Scouts

One of the most encouraging and memorable experiences of the Homenetmen Santa Clara ANI Chapter is the Scouting experience. Homenetmen is affiliated with Boy Scouts of America troop 300.

Homenetmen scouting allows the Armenian youth to make new and life-long friends, gain a better understanding of one’s culture and history, learn leadership qualities, and just have pure fun.

What do scouts do?

  • Meet weekly to learn important skills through the Homenetmen Scouting curriculum, and build strong friendships with fellow scouts.
  • Embark on many outdoors-educational outings including camps, hikes, ski trips, etc.
  • Give a helping hand, when the Armenian community of Santa Clara requires a formal scouting presence. Every year, including 2004 we work very closely and support activities of the St. Andrew Armenian Apostolic Church and also participate in community functions and ceremonies.
  • Participate in events jointly organized by N. California Chapters ( Santa Clara , San Francisco , Walnut Creek and Fresno ), as well as Regional events (which includes the 19 Chapters of Northern and Southern California , and the other Western States ).

The Scouts have many planned outings and camping trips which create unforgettable memories in the hearts of the scouts. Some of our past trips include camps at Mt. Madonna, Uvas Canyon, and even Armenia! Camps allow our scouts to be independent, hard working, and subject to many new adventures.

As Homenetmen Ani scouts, we feel we owe Homenetmen a great deal. It has provided us with wonderful Armenian friends, a sense of responsibility and pride for our homeland, and a love for our Armenian community both locally and throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
